Changing face of Entertainment

The entertainment industry in India is waiting for yet another disruptive innovation, with millions of young users equipped with gigabytes of data every day, there is a new untapped customer base. Not particularly untapped since it makes do with pirated movies and free web series. But, there is an apparent lack of entertainment streamed towards them. Also, the shift from television sets to mobile devices, sets the stage clear for a change in content. the spikes in porn consumption and adult web series do speak of this unattended guest.

The popularity of two platforms, mostly youtube and TikTok, have also helped in developing a new class of actors. To name a few Sumeet Vyas, Jitendra, Bhuvan Bam and much more. It has become apparent that the arduous task of going from one to another production house seeking a side role in a daily soap or movie, is on a decline. Not that, people won't get their debut at soaps and movies, but it seems easier to get a web series and keep working than pray for the big break. TikTok is altogether different from Youtube. the content here does not need to be well defined. In fact, it could just anything that attracts, more like a video-based social media.

but the hidden advantage is that the 15 seconds video in TikTok is enough for the casting crew to make their verdict since they are looking at a raw untapped talent. Even for assigning supporting characters in movies, directors are increasing choosing youtube stars. With the entertainment industry getting a structure like never before, the final change is to be seen in the content. The industry has smoothly shifted from fantastical romances and physics-defying action to the common man hero and biopics. With the entertainment becoming more relatable in terms of the character and stories of daily life. A distinction from what could be imagination and reality is a question that every viewer seems to ask.

Birth of a flood

The sky is almost dark, saving for those last golden tinges that would fade in no time. As palm trees mark the oblivion, a muddy reflection forms the ground. Last few days were mostly rainy. Consultants are the most rampant, yet the most sushed topic in corporate. There are enough consulting firms today, to make one wonder if we need so many of them. And if the conundrum of needing to hire consultants was not big enough, here comes the issue of what they actually do. Over the last few years, many in the media have reported consulting firms to have held too much power for far too long to have become corrupted. Firms have relied on shady practices to keep their business afloat and, on many occasions, have walked out without much consequences.
